Welcome to the KTP

For almost 40 years now, Kunststofftechnik Paderborn (KTP) has stood for successful research and development of manufacturing processes in the field of plastics and rubbers. In our practical and theoretical work, we deal, for example, with the extrusion, injection moulding, welding and bonding of plastics. Similarly, a wide range of material analyses are carried out in our laboratories.

In addition to our extensive teaching activities at Paderborn University, we support industry with a wide range of services. The KTP also develops application-orientated simulation tools in the form of programmed software tools for all fields of the plastics industry.

At this year's user meeting, the latest versions of the simulation programs for single-screw machines, REX 18.0 and PSI 16.0, were presented. With the help of these software programs, the theoretical assessment of machine behavior and thus an optimization of cylinder and screw configuration as well as process parameters are realized without elaborate experimental investigations, both for single-screw extrusion and for the plasticizing units of…

Joining of plastics

The welding of plastics is an integral part of Kunststofftechnik Paderborn. In our own joining laboratory, we deal with a wide range of problems in the field of established welding processes, such as hot plate, vibration and laser welding, as well as special processes such as microwave or high-frequency welding.
